Creating menu

All you need to do is make several quick steps for creating a restaurant menu.

The main parameters of this section is adding the Category and Dish for successful launching of the menu and starting work.

Creating menu

In order to create a new menu go to the "Menu" section in ORTY admin panel.

1. Click on the "Create menu" button.

2. Fill in the general information:

  • Menu name* - put in the name of your menu.
Do not forget that it will be displayed to the Client, when choosing a dish.

  • Schedule - time, when the menu is available to a Client for the reviewing.
When a Client goes to the self-service website in the period of time, when menu is unavailable it simply wouldn't get displayed.

For the menu to be available the whole day, choose the time of availability from 12 AM to 11:59 PM every day, so a Client could get acquainted with it on the Self-service website.

Pay attention, setting the schedule gives a Client only the opportunity to look through the menu but the ability to make an order depends on previous settings made in the Self-service section.

Adding Product

Go to the Product page for creating new product in a previously created menu:

Please note, the opportunity to "Upload file" of already existing menu in Excel or CSV format.

The template example in Excel is below:
In order to add the dish manually, press the button "New product".
Creating Categories

When creating new Product, you can add a new Category immediately in the card by simply by writing its name and pressing "Add":
The second way to add a new Category is through the page:

1. Enter the name of the category.
2. Press "New category" button.

Entering the general information - write all the required information in fields, marked *
1. First, let's create Type* - Product.
In the next part, we will look into creating Meal.

2. Enter the Name* of your product.

3. Price* for the product, which a Client is going to see.

4. Price before tax* counts automatically according to the set percent of the tax.

5. Category* choosing from the previously created category or adding a new one immediately in the product, as was described in the Step 3.

Please note, you can add several categories to one product.
Entering the description it will catch Client's attention to the product.
1. Adding tags - a useful instrument for sorting products into certain categories, they are simple and easily understandable for Clients.

Please note, when adding tags “new”, “no-gluten”, “spicy”, “vegan” those are going to be displayed on the menu for a Client.
2. The description will be displayed for a Client in the menu.
Downloading image, it will help a Client to visualize the products.
Adding modifiers - an ability for Client to choose certain additions.
For example, specify the serving size or supplement additional ingredients to the product.
Please note, it is up to you to make certain modifiers obligatory for a Client to choose, when creating an order.
1. Let's add multiple select modifier:

Name* - general name of modifier, which you are adding.

For supplementing more options, click button "Add more".

The amount of the options is unlimited, they will be displayed on the Client's menu page.

Do not forget to specify the price for each option.

In order to make modifier required, activate this option, which is at the top of the card.

Managing settings
  • Apply the loyalty program - this option allows to apply the loyalty program to the current product, add discounts, and cashback during the purchase.

If the option is turned off, than the loyalty program would not apply to the product, you will not be able to add discounts and cashback during the purchase.

In ORTY you can create such loyalty programs as:

Cashback involves saving through numerous purchases and payment with this cashback at your shop.

Discount is an instant price reduction here and now, without the possibility of accumulation.

Activating the delivery restriction.
After activating "Do not allow delivery" option, on the product image in menu appears the crossed transport icon and when a Client is trying to checkout the delivery mode, the system shows next notification:
In such case a Client can make a "takeaway", "dine-in" or "curbside pickup" order but it is not available for delivery.

Activating "Only for delivery" option - ability to chose only the "delivery" of this product.

You can also add the estimated cooking time (min) - this information will be displayed in menu to a Client.

For tomorrow - choose this option if you want to highlight the fact that the product is going to be ready for a pickup tomorrow.

The approximate cooking time and the “For tomorrow” option do not affect the ability to order and pay for this product today.

Creating the Meal 
To create the Meal you need to chose this type:
When you chose Meal type you have the ability to add products which the meal includes.

Please note that in order to add a product into the meal first, you need to create it as it was presented in Step 3 of this article.

Fill in the set of products* - general name of the category, which will combine all your options.

There are two variants on how to create meals:

1. Example

For example, Big Mac Menu includes next products: Double Cheeseburger, Fries and Coffee Latte.

In the set components you can enter the price for each product, which the set includes.

In POS app your menu will be displayed:
When making order, all the menu options are going to be mandatory:

For example, in Burgers Mac Menu you can choose one or several burgers: Double Cheeseburger, Hamburger, Big Mac.

Managing modifiers
All created modifiers in products you can see and manage them on "Modifiers" page in "Menu" section:
In case you have run out of the product, you may add the modifier to stop-list by unchecking POS or SS (Self-service) columns:
Thus, having familiarized yourself with the steps, you can create a menu and individually set it up for your restaurant's and for the Client's needs.
